Matt Giraud returns to 'American Idol' for duet with Scott MacIntyre
By Lorilee Craker | The Grand Rapids Press
March 09, 2010, 10:00AM

When Matt Giraud takes the “American Idol” stage for the first time since placing fifth last season, he won’t have votes or Simon Cowell to worry about.

On Thursday, he and eighth-place finisher Scott MacIntyre will reprise their dueling piano performance of Billy Joel’s “Tell Her About It,” which brought audiences in arenas across the country to their feet during “Idol’s” live summer tour.

“I’m pumped to hit the ‘Idol’ stage again,” said Giraud, of Kalamazoo. “And I’m honored to be asked.”

Matt Giraud to perform April 21 in Kalamazoo at Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival
By Linda S. Mah | Kalamazoo Gazette
February 01, 2010, 8:45AM

KALAMAZOO — The Irving S. Gilmore International Keyboard Festival has added American Idol finalist and Kalamazoo resident Matt Giraud to the 2010 festival lineup.

Matt Giraud
Giraud, who finished fifth in the eight season of the Fox television show last year, will perform at 8 p.m. April 21 at Chenery Auditorium.

After finishing the TV show last year, Giraud joined the 50-city American Idol Live tour, which featured the Top 10 finalists from the 2009 season. He has since performed several solo concerts in Grand Rapids.

The Gilmore appearance would be his first concert in Kalamazoo since appearing on American Idol.

“We’re really pleased that it worked out that we could add him as a late arrival for the festival,” said Daniel R. Gustin, director of the Gilmore. “It’s not something we could have planned a year or so ago when most of the festival was being put together.”

Each festival includes performers from West Michigan, “and in that sense he fits right into the scheme of things for the festival,” Gustin said.

Tickets for the show will be $37 and $27. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Miller Auditorium box office.

Tickets also may be purchased at online at www.millerauditorium.com or by phone at (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858. For more information, visit www.gilmorekeyboardfestival.org.
